| Announcement!
I just finished off an intensive hour long phone interview with the admissions officer of the MGH-Harvard spiritual formation and clinical pastoral education program. Wow never been so intimidated and overwhelmed in an interview before, but than again now i understand the nature of the competitive nature of the Boston schools. After giving some poor responses to some tough questions about theology, academic (my declining GPA), chaplaincy, and spirituality; to my surprise i was accepted to take 1 of 10 spots in the program! Now that i have been accepted to the program, i am hesitant to accept the invitation. Friends, i would greatly appreciate your prayers at this time of discerning and decision making. But yeah... i'm fashioning my crimson Harvard t-shirt right now=).
Can you see me here? MGH

Can you see me here? More school? | | |
| For all you Trail blazers and God fearers... For you theologians and the next generation of church leaders... For those who seek God's will and his kingdom in their lives and on this earth in our time... For those who won't settle, can't settle, and fight to journey on in seeking God's will for their lives...
Heres some food for your soul and mind....
"The place God calls you is the place where your deep gladness and the world's hunger meet." - Frederick Buechner.
". . . true joy happens when what one must do converges with what one most wants to do." - Archbishop William Temple... it sounded more like Archbishop Confucius of the Han dynasty.
So continue to live your life out of conviction and not out of convience!
Peace out, MB

| I ran upon an interesting article in the CNN opinion column entitled, "What God joined Together." It talks about the identities, roles, and life of the average Pastor's wife. While reading through the article i couldn't help but feel grateful and inspired by the countless number of occasions where the behind the scene ministry of the PWs have gone unnoticed and unappreciated. Moreover, i felt humbled because all along, i've internally been consumed with the concern for the tough lifestyle and responsibilities for a inspiring Pastor, without a thought of concern for what lies ahead for the spouse of the minister. Indeed, in some sense, the PW have it harder.
They have a tougher road ahead of them than the Pastor him/herself. She is a nurturing mother, a supporting wife, the First lady of the church, a spirit fill praying intercessor, and in most cases the "sugar momma" of the family. Above all, what seems to be more challenging than all those things combine is the unrealistic expectation that she keeps herself immune from burning out. A tall order indeed! So i'm reminded once again about what my dad said about striving towards becoming a great man...a faithful pastor/missionary..."Find a woman after God's heart and God will shape you to be a man after his heart." "Behind every great pastor stands a greater wife!"
PW is a calling... a divine calling for valor. Its more than the traditional stereotype assumption about supporting the family and minister. Its about being courageous, strong, and brave... its about exemplifying godly beauty.
Is this asking too much amongst this korean American generation that is addicted and enslaved in materialistic narcissism? I believe not. If God is active and involved in redeeming this generation and if he still touches the lives of young men with the calling for His work, will he not also call young women to be brave in their generation. I believe he does... and that my friend is good news!
